Zecchino d’Oro is a legend, an icon of Italian culture.
For years, songs performed by the children of the Antoniano Choir have gone on to become animated music videos.
The song entrusted to us was playful and joyful, and the brief was clear: create a music video built around smiles and comedy. Something Racoon is very much at home with.
The brief was to create a fun and playful video, so we imagined a cast of characters and situations designed to spark comedy. Two mischievous red-haired twins, bringing a touch of Christmas to the story; two cats trying to survive the most unexpected misadventures; a classic lifeguard from the Romagna Riviera, determined to sabotage our heroes’ plans; and a mysterious, rather rotund old man with a thick white beard, doing everything he can to keep his identity hidden.
The video is strongly narrative, with the direction carrying a clear storyline throughout the entire film.
The design of the two twins started from the shape of their faces: the square. We played with this simple element to give the two protagonists a distinctive personality, which then became the starting point for the design of the entire visual world.
The backgrounds were created through digital painting, with each scene individually drawn and painted in digital form.
