Inter approached us to create a social campaign made up of four short films, celebrating the long-standing partnership between the club and its historic sponsor, Pirelli.

Power, Control, Performance and Speed: four qualities, four of the most memorable goals in the history of Inter and Pirelli. These goals became the starting point for telling the story of this iconic partnership.

The challenge was to make everything visually striking: the goals and players had to remain instantly recognizable, while being reduced to a bold, graphic and essential visual language.

The visual references provided by Inter immediately pointed us towards rotoscoping: tracing existing footage frame by frame.

The idea was to create a dynamic edit from the original goal footage, trace its key elements, and then bring everything together with VFX and graphic elements.

Once recreated through animation, the players’ movements were placed within a flat visual system built around a limited colour palette — naturally, the colours of the two brands: black, blue, yellow and white.

The players’ design had to balance synthesis and impact with recognizability and anatomical accuracy. We found the right balance to convey power while keeping every movement clear and readable.

The project began with a pre-production phase focused on developing the visual and stylistic direction, followed by a carefully structured production schedule for the four films.

Once the goal footage had been edited, we enhanced the contrast and definition of the images to prepare them for tracing. The rotoscoping phase was the longest and most complex part of the process, also due to the many details that had to be preserved in the players’ jerseys.

Once the animated sequences were completed, the films were composited in Adobe After Effects, combining the players’ animation with visual effects created in Toon Boom Harmony, including explosions and lightning.

The four films were produced in square, vertical and horizontal formats, allowing them to be published across all the social media channels of both brands.
