To celebrate its 115th anniversary, Inter went all in: the club created a special-edition jersey featuring the Biscione — the iconic serpent that symbolizes both Milan and the team — and published a book bringing together every jersey worn throughout the club’s history.

To promote these initiatives, Inter needed a single promotional film capable of bringing all these elements together: celebrating the club’s 115th anniversary; recreating the iconic moment when Inter was founded at Ristorante L’Orologio; showing the passage of time through the changing face of Milan and highlighting the deep bond between the club and the city; featuring some of the most iconic jerseys in Inter’s history, hinting at the book; and finally revealing the special 115th-anniversary jersey.

The Biscione had to be the thread running through the entire story, connecting every moment and every era.

Bringing all of these elements together in a single film was no small challenge — especially with just ten days to develop and produce it.

The idea was to identify four or five key moments in the history of Inter and Milan, each defined by a specific year and a distinctive visual aesthetic. The chosen eras were also linked to some of the club’s most iconic jerseys.

As the story moved through the passing decades, the Biscione became the visual thread connecting one era to the next, carrying the narrative forward until the final reveal: the special anniversary jersey, where the Biscione takes centre stage.

The film brings together a variety of visual elements and techniques.

The jerseys were created through 2D character animation, giving the fabrics and graphic details the right sense of softness and movement. The backgrounds combine photographic imagery with archival elements, while each sequence is accompanied by a soundscape carefully crafted to evoke the atmosphere of the era it represents.

The production was particularly tight, with the animation of the jerseys representing the biggest challenge. The dynamics of the fabrics had to feel natural and fluid, while every graphic detail and stripe was painstakingly reconstructed and animated, drawing each element frame by frame in Toon Boom Harmony.

The scene set in Ristorante L’Orologio was rebuilt in 3D using Blender, based on archival photographs of the historic restaurant. All the graphic elements and compositing were then created in Adobe After Effects.

The entire production was handled by a team of three.

The film was initially produced in the three standard formats for digital: square, horizontal and vertical.

The club loved the film so much that they decided to take it further, adapting and converting it into multiple formats to be displayed on LED walls and outdoor screens across Milan.

For the entire week of Inter’s 115th anniversary celebrations, our film became part of the city itself — spreading across Milan’s screens and becoming one of the visual voices of the celebration.
